The homemade solution is a mixture of white vinegar and hot water, which can give your carpet an instant refresh.

Some people may be tempted to add in an essential oil to the white vinegar and baking soda mixture to create a lovely scent, but the essential oil could be toxic to pets.

How to make the homemade carpet cleaning solution

Before beginning, it’s advisable to spot-test a tiny part of the homemade solution to a small, inconspicuous area and waiting 24 hours to assess the results.

If all is well, you can make a bigger version of the cleaning solution by combining half a gallon of white vinegar with half a gallon of hot water in a large bowl.

If you are going to add an essential oil to the mixture, make sure to mix the essential oil with the white vinegar and hot water before applying.

Another thing to do before applying the solution is to thoroughly vacuum the carpet. You can then use the homemade carpet cleaner in a carpet cleaning machine or apply it directly to the stains.

The cleaning process takes just five minutes, but allow 24 hours for the fabric to dry completely, and your carpet should be stain-free once again.
